Hi there, Im Gary! I have always enjoyed running, in particular I like competing in events. Im not an elite runner but I enjoy the atmosphere on race day and pushing myself in a way that you just cant do on a training day.

Previously I had always trained on my own as I assumed to join a club you had to be the next Mo Farah. Turns out I was wrong!

When I heard about a club that meets very close to my house,  feeling brave one evening, I thought I would see what it was all about. I neednt have worried. It was a very friendly club and catered for different abilities and ran various distances and pace. I can truly say it made a huge difference to my motivation to go out even on those cold, wet winter nights!

The club name: Sellars Bridge Striders.

SBS was set up and is organised by Arthur Daley. It is for both male and female, young and old.

Younger runners are welcome to join but we ask that they are accompanied by parent or guardian. Please ask for more information if under the age of 16.

Gary

Im not an elite athlete! Far from it in fact. I just enjoy the sport.

I have run one marathon (Stratford), one is enough for me! I prefer the 10k distance. Its still a challenge but not in the same way an endurance event like the marathon is. My PB for 10k is 41:26.

I hope to get sub 40 in 2014!

Some members of Sellars Bridge!

The number of people attending each evening varies, from a handful to 20 or more.

Some like to use the club as a social evening and as a way to remain motivated for year-round fitness and or weightloss while others like to use it as a means of training for a specific upcoming event from 3 mile fun runs such as Race for Life to ultras!
