There are 2 training sessions from Sellars Bridge:

Wednesday at 6.30pm

Friday at 6.00pm

Plus a third group......

Monday at 6.30pm. Kingsway Runners

Wednesday 5Km

5km (3.1 miles) is a great training distance regardless of your current fitness level or event distance you may be training for.

Record your weekly time for your 5k and upload to the website spreadsheet so you can easily track your progress or post directly into our Facebook page. Click on the LINK to view the results spreadsheet. You are given access to enter and modfiy only your own data but still be able to see the results of other members and give them a cheer when they achieve a new PB! (personal best).

You can add the times either manaully or by using an app on your phone eg:

Map my run, Nike, Runkeeper, Strava to name a few.

Format

We set off together and those running the same pace can stick together but the session is intended for you to push your own personal limits.

The faster runners on completing their 5k, loop back to meet up with the others providing encouragement and to keep the session 'social'.

New or returning runners

We ask that you are able to jog a minimum of 3 miles without stopping before joining us for the first time.

If you are unsure you can do this, contact us and we can spend some time with you separately to help you achieve this.

After just a few 5k sessions you will see improvement! your time should improve to around 30 mins once you can jog steadily for the entire route.

For the more experienced runner

5k is a great way of increasing your cadence and aerobic fitness vital for smashing your PB on longer distances in particular the very popular 10k.

Route map

Starting on the canal head towards Gloucester.

At Rea Bridge (approx 1.5 miles) turn left onto the road.

Follow the road to the T-junction (approx 2.5 miles) turn and turn left.

When you reach Hardwicke (indicated by the large sign on the left hand side of the road), stop your watch and note your time.

Its then a short walk or a steady warm down jog back to Sellars Bridge where you started.

Remember to post your time into our Facebook page and add your time into the group results spreadsheet!

Friday fitness run

The Friday group is quite different as the route tends to vary week to week and we run together in groups.

Periodically the faster runners will stop, slow or or loop back so we can regroup as the need arises.

There are 2 groups, 4-5 miles and 6-7 miles.

If you have a race approaching and would like to use your Friday evening as a training run, just let us know and the speed and distance can be 'tweeked' to suit an individuals needs.

A tailored training plan can even made for you. Just have a chat with Arthur and the other experienced runners for training advice and race day tips and running technique.

New or returning runners

We ask that you are able to jog a minimum of 3 miles without stopping before joining us for the first time.

If you are unsure you can do this, contact us and we can arrange for you to start at 18:30 for a shorter run finishing at the bridge at the same time as the other groups members.

Training Sessions

The group is for residents of Kingsway and the surrounding areas.

Meeting place is opposite ASDA at the new sports pavillion setting off at 6.30 Monday evenings.

The group is a great choice if you are new to running and just starting out or returning to running after a long break.

There are 2 groups:

  • Those just starting out and need a shorter distance possibly with a mix of jogging and walking.

  • Those able to run 3 miles or more without stopping (regardless of pace)

The groups are coached by Clive and Samantha.
